Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has worked as a chef, TV host in America and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals concise easy-to-master techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of New York's top restaurants, has learned about the Italian food and culture and has was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Early on, while growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. She pursued her passion for food and restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." It was hard to study how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduation, Burrell spent one year studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. She gained a deeper appreciation of Italian culture and cuisine throughout her time in Italy that has informed her style of cooking. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten children's lives who are facing problems. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador where she advocates for awareness of juvenile diabetes. She has been a frequent to speak at conferences and tours the country as part of her mentorship task. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate in that she could share her true passion with others.
